In our initial therapy session we will discuss the frequency of sessions that will suit your particular needs. Weekly or every other week is a common arrangement.
Psychotherapy sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration.
Fees and Payment
Fees will be established prior to the first session during the initial 15 minute consultation. You will be expected to pay your fee at each session unless other arrangements have been agreed upon. Fees can be paid by cash, check or credit card (there will be a small processing fee for credit cards).
If your health insurance includes "out of network" outpatient mental health benefits, this provision usually provides coverage for my services. This means you are responsible for payment at the time of service and I will provide you with an itemized statement at the end of the month, which you can then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I do not accept managed care at this time.
All information disclosed in a psychotherapy or counseling session is strictly confidential and may not be revealed to anyone without your written permission. However, there are circumstances where I am ethically and legally obligated to breach confidentiality. These situations are:
- If you present a serious or imminent danger to yourself or an identifiable other
- In cases of apparent abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person or a dependent adult
- When a judge orders the release of information
I will consult with other mental heath professionals concerning therapy clients when appropriate; however the client's identity remains completely anonymous and confidentiality is fully maintained.
Since scheduling a psychotherapy appointment involves reserving a time specifically for you, a minimum of 24 hours notice is required for me to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Unless we reach a different agreement, the full fee will be charged for late cancellations and missed appointments.
